If you need the professional service of an architect, then you'd better put your patience shoes on. Not because of the architect of course. It's the procedures that need to be done and works that have to be carried out once the  Planning Authority (PA) comes in. I will not go into details here, however, remember that you need to work hard if you want to be satisfied. You'll have to keep reminding everyone about your property and use all the leads you have to make things happen.

The job of an architect is nonetheless important than anybody else's job. It could include architectural design, structural design, landscaping or even interior design, PA applications, project management and much, much more. Not every architect offers such comprehensive services, but many companies do.

I suggest you do good research before you hire someone if you don't get any recommendations from friends. Young doesn't necessarily mean ineffective or incompetent. Also expensive doesn't always mean better!
